Are you ready to SHINE?

Are you ready to SHINE?

How many of you know that the organization standing behind Game Masters is an NGO called “Amateur Sport Leagues”?

Even if you didn’t know it, now you are well educated but you are just about to find out much more. In the last year Amateur Sport Leagues or ASL invested a lot of time and efforts in developing projects and applying for grants through the “Erasmus +” programme. Erasmus+ is the European Union’s programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. A small part of the grants is allocated for sport projects and we are very happy to announce that ASL’s project called “SHINE – Sport, Health, Innovation and Nutrition for Europe” was approved for full funding with 78 points in the October’s call for submissions in 2016. The project will take place between 8th and 15th of July, 2017 in Varbovo, Bulgaria and the following lines will provide more information about it.

SHINE is a collaboration between ASL and the Estonian organization Movability which will also participate in this project. Both organizations are quite interested in youth work but their main incentives to work together were the common ideas about spreading more knowledge and awareness about healthy lifestyle, benefits of sport and nutrition. These ideas were summarized in the project SHINE which will host participants from six different countries – Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain and Greece. The participants will be aged 18 to 30 years old and their level of knowledge and experience will vary as they take part in SHINE’s activities.

The project’s objectives are to improve common understanding, find approaches, raise awareness and give support for the youth participants about healthy lifestyle, finding new everyday habits and eventually create possibilities to be good example for others and enhance the capacity of youths and youth workers and organizations to spread the new knowledge and the skill set to the larger group of local youths in their home countries. The participants will find simple, fun and cheap ways to do physical activities, have cooking sessions, educate themselves about nutrition and participate in self-reflection discussions on how to improve the quality of their lifestyle and make it as healthy as possible. In the process they will be creating different materials (videos, blog, articles, forums, etc.) which will capture the knowledge and make it available to a wider group of people after the main part of the project is finished.

As in all Game Masters events organized by ASL, one thing is for sure – the fun is guaranteed. The best part is that we still have couple of spots open in the Bulgarian group. All expenses, including travelling, accommodation and food are covered so all you need to do is bring your good mood and be ready to SHINE. If you want to be part of this new adventure and spend 8-15th July in Varbovo, Bulgaria, please contact us HERE and let us know what is your motivation to join this project. We will contact you shortly to let you know if the slots are still open but in any case – more information about the project and progress updates are yet to be published online at www.gamemasters.eu so stay tuned!
